DocExchange

...is brought to you by the NIKT-Team of the Universitätsrechenzentrum Basel. DocExchange has been implemented by Canoo Engineering AG, Basel. DocExchange enables users to exchange huge files by up- and downloading those with a webbrowser to and from a server. You need an e-mail address to transmit connection information.

Security and data protection

DocExchange allows the encryption of your data. Although the password is not known by the provider of DocExchange, a hash of the password needs to be stored on the server for technical reasons.

DocExchange uses DES, which does not provide latest state-of-the-art data encryption strength. If you need stronger protection, use independent encryption meeting your needs. For operational reasons and statistical analysis we track user and usage data. This data is kept private and not given to third parties, exept for law enforcement.

Admitted users

All users of the SWITCH AAI Confederation may upload and download files or issue upload tickets to non-AAI-members for purposes described under 'Allowed usage'.

Allowed usage

You may use DocExchange to exchange files for all purposes that conform to the spirit and scope of the academic organizations that participate in the SWITCH AAI Confederation. The total amount of storage that can be allocated per user at the same time ist 50'000 Megabyte = 50 Gigabyte. Files will be deleted automatically after successful download, after a predefined grace period or manually by the ticket owner.

- You may not use DocExchange for private usage.

- You may not use DocExchange for exchanging data that infringe any kind of legal aspects or laws.

The DocExchange service is provided as is. The provider of the DocExchange service is not liable for any loss or damage resulting from the use of the service. We are not responsible for problems due to compromised data. Each user is responsible to take care for adequate encryption of delicate data.
